Ambler Borough is the social, cultural and business center of this area. It is a friendly small town covering less than a square mile in area with a stable population of 6400. Its churches, affordable housing, great schools, convenient public transportation accessibility, municipal parks & recreation facilities and a "walkable" downtown commercial district make it an ideal location for living, working and playing. This site is dedicated to providing residents and visitors with vital information about our community. Please feel free to contact us with comments and questions regarding information posted on this site.
The Borough of Ambler offices are open Monday through Friday, 8 AM until 4:30 PM. We are located at the 122 East Butler Avenue. Our zip code is 19002 and our phone number is 215-646-1000. When calling, please follow the pre-recorded instructions. At our office you may pay your water bills, apply for various permits such as yard sale, parade, banner, building, zoning, etc. and obtain information for most other issues regarding the Borough. The Borough manager's office, the police department, water department, zoning and codes offices are located here.
The borough of Ambler is fifteen miles north of Philadelphia.
Ambler Borough offers several outdoor recreational facilities, among them several parks including, the Ambler Borough Park. Established in 1937 this park has won accolades from local environmental groups as a beautiful and uniquely untouched ecosystem in an urban area.
The Jean Thompson Park, was built in 1990 and named after a woman who is a community leader in South Ambler. This park has a wonderful Tot Lot containing swings and slides geared toward younger children.
One of the most popular parks is Knight Park. This multiuse area contains 2 basketball courts, 2 Lighted Bocce Ball Courts, multipurpose court for roller hockey, skateboarding, etc. A Little League Baseball field, play equipment for tots as well as older children, a picnic pavilion with two large tables and plenty more.
Ambler and its surrounding townships make up a desirable community in which to live and work. Great schools, excellent transportation and safe neighborhoods make the location ideal for suburban living.
Ambler is a walkable community with distinctive buildings, attractive streetscapes and a balance of residential and commercial properties. Currently there are 130 retail and service stores. A "downtown" with additional office development and the right shops, restaurants and cultural attractions will make the area even more dynamic.
Trees are and always will be, an integral part of our community. Because trees are living, growing, dynamic parts of our Borough, special care is taken to ensure they provide the largest possible benefit for the longest time. A project that has found great success is the Plant Ambler project. This is a community beautification effort staffed entirely by volunteers and supported by donations. Volunteers have been providing displays such as spring pansies, fall mums and winter greens throughout the borough since 1973.
It is conveniently located within minutes of the Pennsylvania turnpike (I-276), the Blue Route (I-476) and Route 309. Come and discover? Downtown Ambler.
